In the 1970s, Peter Wortsman conducted interviews in Vienna with Holocaust survivors. Drawn from these interviews, “Der tätowierte Mann,” translated from the English by Karin Rausch, is a painful reminder of life in the concentration camps. Painful particularly on account of the merciless bluntness of his respondents.

“An emotional account of life in the concentration camp… The light goes out on stage, but it takes a while for the audience to start clapping. Applause feels strange, given the subject. But then the public can’t stop clapping… the play appears to have left a lasting impression on all present… A little taste of hell.”
